The Saison musicale de Caux

Created in 2012, the Saison musicale de Caux aims at organising musical events in the village of Caux sur Montreux, located on the shore of Lake Geneva. The concerts take place in the English church (180 seats) and at the Caux Palace (400 seats). Among invited artists: Belcea quartet, François-René Duchâble, Pierre Amoyal…

The Saison musicale de Caux encourages young professional artists by offering them a place to play challenging programs as soloists or chamber music players. We also program leading musicians and invite them to play in an exceptional place and beautiful surroundings.

The chapel St Michael and all Angels

At the beginning of 20th century, the English used to come in large number to the widely known resort of Caux. The chapel St Michael and All Angels, was built in 1905-1906. The chapel is unique in its kind, though in outward appearance a typical church building of 1900. Inside one finds impressive stained-glass windows and, in the choir, a superb reredos of massive boxwood in high relief carved by the artist Alfons de Wispelaere in Brugge. After the First World War, the resort lost its fame, the English no longer came and the chapel was deserted. It was given to the protestant church of Montreux after Word War II, on the condition that it took on all expenses and allowed the chapel to be used for services in the English language. The chapel became annexed to the parish of Montreux in the Evangelical Church of the Canton de Vaud.
